New Amazon region in the US West coast
You may have already heard about the new region added last week to Amazon Web Services and particularly Amazon EC2 in the US west coast.
We are already indexing the images in the new region (almost a hundred so far!) and you can filter your searches to choose the region that suits best your needs.

Socializing: introducing image ratings and...
From today you can see on TheCloudMarket Amazon AMIs ratings and comments made by other users that hopefully will help you make a decision on what image to choose.
For any image, you can see the ratings, the comments, and if you make searches you can sort them by their rating.
If you have an account (sign up, it’s free!) you can rate and add comments yourself.
Enjoy!

We would like to have a link to “Run this image” from our image details page (ie. http://thecloudmarket.com/image/ami-e40f2790 ) that would take the user to the aws console page where he enters all the info before launching (number of images to run,...

Where do we get our data from?

For some well known images we automatically assign a name to them, based on some common patterns....

Getting the information from Amazon image listings
We have just dumped all the information available in the Amazon collaborative wiki image list into the site.
If you submitted information there about your image, good news! the information is already in TheCloudMarket. We parse the wiki and extract the name, description, and all the other info as an attached readme.
For instance, check the Java Web Starter AMI provided by Amazon wiki page and...

For example you can find Ubuntu Intrepid images bublished by the Ubuntu project both in 32 and 64 bit and in the US and European regions.
We are hoping over time to build up more and more functionality to help people find the AWS images...

The Big Day Is Getting Closer
Our production server is up and ready, if you are interested in getting more information here over there and sign up, we’ll e-mail you as soon as we are open (or probably before).
Right now we are starting to look for people who have public AMI images in order to test the site and also set-up their shop fronts before we are open to the public. This means you can claim your images and...
